AshLab
A digital archive of John Ashbery's house in Hudson, New York, with a 360° tour linking objects in the rooms to the poems.
AshLab was a digital humanities project that started at The New School in spring 2012. The goal was an interactive archive of the home of the poet John Ashbery and his partner, David Kermani, in Hudson, New York.
I co-taught the seminar with Adam Fitzgerald, Robert Polito, and Tom Healy, and led the digital side: the 360° panoramic and drone photography, and the design and programming of the annotations that link themes, media, and commentary.

What it included
- A 360° online tour of the house.
- A visual database of hundreds of artworks, books, and objects.
- Annotations connecting objects to Ashbery’s life and work.
- Close readings of the poems tied to the things in the rooms.
